Mr. Siegbert Janko while being on his trip to Morocco was fascinated
Djemaa el-Fna in Marrakesh. Every night the main Square of food-
stalls, and endless crowds…
Inspired by spectacular transformation of an ordinary local place into
one of the most colorful and extraordinary places on Earth, Siegbert
Janko decided to bring “colors” from Africa to Austria, and “throw a
Wonderful idea and Mr. Siegbert Janko’s excellent organizational
skills appeared to be a perfect match! Since 1987 every year the
streets of the Upper Austrian city of Linz are transformed into a
stage for international performers from around the world.
Linz is located in the north centre of
Austria. It is the third largest city of Austria
and capital of the state of Upper Austria
(German: Oberösterreich).
Linz will become the European Capital of
Culture in 2009.
2008 from July 20 through July 22 Pflasterspektake featured about 500 international artists and attracted around
170,000 visitors.
